Q. How many people can White Wave accommodate?

A. There are 6 beds at White Wave. These include 1 Queen bed, 1 Double bed and 4 single beds. You must bring your own Linen.

We can accommodate a maximum of 6 adults plus 2 infants and children for a maximum of 8 people. Please note; infant bedding is not supplied, please bring your own portable cot.

Note:
We can only accommodate 6 single people due to the bedding arrangement.

Q. What time is Check In and Check Out?

A. Check-In time is 2.00 pm and check-out time is 10.00 am. We understand that tides may impact your travel times and we try to be flexible where we can by prior arrangement only. However, in peak times and when another guest is departing on your arrival day, check-in will only be available from 2.00 pm.

Q. What is provided?

A. We provide a small starter pack of toilet paper, paper towel & a bin liner to keep you going for a day or two and basic cleaning supplies of toilet cleaner and a general-purpose cleaning spray.

Q. What do I need to bring?

A. You should bring the following:

  • all your own linen, blankets, pillow, towels etc
  • all your food and drinks required for your stay
  • basic consumables for example:
    • toilet paper
    • washing up detergent
    • paper towel
    • bin liners
    • glad wrap
    • foil
    • cooking spray/oil
    • condiments
    • top loader washing detergent
  • beach towels, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, all medications required & a well-equipped first aid kit
  • fishing rods, tackle and bait
  • for your vehicle we recommend: a spare tyre, a well-equipped tool kit for your vehicle, tyre pressure gauge, air pump, tow rope, snatch strap, D shackles, traction mats (in case you get stuck in soft sand) and a long-handled shovel

Q. What not to bring?

A. Please do not bring any plug-in appliances other than small devices like your mobile phone, camera, iPad or laptop.

We are unable to support electrical items such as extra fridges, hairdryers, electrical kitchen appliances or irons.

Q. Can I drink the water?

A. Bore water is available which is suitable for drinking. Alternatively, you can bring bottled water if you prefer.

Q. What type of power is there?

A. 24-hour power is available. We are completely off the grid and reliant upon solar power.  We also have a backup diesel generator if required.

Q. Will my mobile phone work?

A. Telstra is the only network with mobile & 4G coverage available at Orchid Beach. No other network has coverage and most of the island has no phone coverage at all.

Q. Are pets allowed?
Domestic animals, including dogs, are not permitted in the K’gari (Fraser Island) section of Great Sandy National Park.

A. Can I walk to the beach?
It would take approximately 30 minutes to walk to the beach over the secondary dunes. We don’t recommend this as there are no walking paths, only the sand tracks which vehicles use.

Q. Are there any shops?

A. The Orchid Beach Trading Post & General Store is the only shop located at Orchid Beach. It sells fuel, basic grocery supplies like bread, milk, dry goods, frozen meat, ice creams and some fishing and camping supplies. There is generally no fresh fruit or vegetables available. There is also a bar and a bottle shop.
